Changing Your Name and/or Sex Marker on an Oregon Drivers License or ID
Changing your name
To change your name on a license or ID, you need to go to a DMV office in person and request the change. You’ll have to pay the fee for a new or replacement license.
You will be asked to show a legal name change decree or any other document on the DMV’s proof of legal name list. Change of name on vehicle titles is done separately.
They’ll take your photo again and issue you a new license or ID with the corrected information on it.
Changing your sex marker
You can change your sex marker at the same time you change your name. You will need to show a letter from a DMV approved therapist, stating something to the effect that it’s their professional opinion that it’s in your best interest to have your sex marker changed to reflect your true gender.
